Defence, Water and Power Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Sunday that the PML-N-led government was making strenuous efforts for bringing economic stability and strengthening the national economy on top priority basis. The economic stability had become more imperative in current era to cope with the future challenges more easily and the government has adopted very aggressive approach for achieving the results of its programme, he said.
Talking to Business Recorder at in Muslim League Hose, he said the government has focused attention on fulfilling its responsibility and commitments for bringing the country out of the energy crisis on top priority basis and in this regard several short- and long-term power generation projects were being carried out in different areas across the country.
A strategy has been evolved for generating maximum power to cope with future needs of the country and the Pakistan Muslim League-N government was determined to end load shedding at any cost and in this regard not only power generation option are under pipeline but the ministry was also working to enhance and strengthen distribution aimed at reducing line losses, he said.
Asif said under the programme several long- and short-term power projects were being initiated in the country, adding that the power generation from Thar coal reserves would be started in near future which would help end load shedding while other options were also under consideration. Currently Thar known as starvation area and after completion of the power project would become the energy capital of the country while electricity plants would also be installed on gas wells which are unutilised for generating electricity while several countries had showed their willingness and interests to invest in the energy sector of Pakistan, he said.
