Senior Country Manager of Global Alliance for Vaccine and Immunisation (GAVI) Anne Zeindl Cronin met Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq here on Wednesday and discussed various health related issues. Director General Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Director Health EPI Dr Munir Ahmad and other concerned officers also attended the meeting.
Kh Salman Rafiq briefed Anne Zeindl Cronin about ongoing anti-measles campaign in Punjab and discussed in detail the steps taken by the government for enhancing the routine immunisation coverage above 90 percent. He said that development of health sector and reforms for ensuring provision of better health facilities to the people is the passion of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for which CM is working hard day and night.
According to him, the government's special focus is on prevention of diseases. By controlling the diseases, workload in the hospitals would also be reduced. It was informed on the occasion that the high level delegation of GAVI from Geneva will visit Lahore on February 17 during which the delegation will also meet the provincial leadership to discuss the scope of increasing co-operation for the purpose of immunisation of children in Punjab.
Kh Salman Rafiq thanked the Senior Country Manager GAVI for invaluable co-operation and provision of vaccine for the immunisation of children. He expressed the hope that Punjab government will successfully implement the programme of prevention of diseases with the co-operation of its international partner.
