Temperature drops below freezing point in several parts of country

Light snowfall occurred over the hills of Malakand and Rawalpindi divisions and isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas as weather remained very cold and dry in most parts of the country on Wednesday.
The Meteorological department measured snowfall (inch) Malamjabba 03, Murree 02. The mercury fell below freezing point at several parts of the country including Parachinar, Kalam -11.0°C, Astore -9.0, Malamajaba -8.0°C, Gupis, Hunza, Drosh, Gilgit, Rawalakot, Kalat -6.0°C, Quetta, Murree -5.0°C, Skardu -4.0°C, Dir, Zhob -3.0°C, Chitral, Abbotabad -2.0°C, Garidupatta, Bannu -1.0°C.
Met office weather forecast for today and next 48 hoursMainly very cold and dry weather is expected over most parts of the country with fog over plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab (including Islamabad) & Upper Sindh during night & morning hours. Further, isolated to scattered frost would fall over upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir after midnight. Furthermore, isolated thunderstorm/rain with snowfall over the hills would occur over FATA, Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir
Very cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, light rain (with light snow over the hills) may occur at one or two places in Gilgit-Baltistan. Frost would occur in Islamabad, Potohar region (Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal) and plain areas of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
