At least four people, including the father and the son, were killed in separate incidents of violence in various parts of the Karachi city on Sunday. According to police and rescue sources, Akhtar Hussain, 50, and his son Athar Hussain, 30, were shot and killed by unidentified people near Islam Chowk, Sector 11-1/2 of Orangi Town.
Police said the incident occurred when they were present near their home, in the mean time two armed men riding a bike came and opened indiscriminate fire on them and fled from the scene leaving both father and son fatally injured. The victims were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medical aid. They succumbed to their injuries during treatment due to massive bleeding. Police said that Akhtar had been associated with Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ). Soon after the attack, workers and supporters of ASWJ gathered at Islam Chowk, blocked the roads for all kind of traffic and raised slogans against the deadly incident. They urged the government to immediately arrest the culprits involved in the crime.
In the same way, Muhammad Salahuddin, 58, a preventive officer of the Pakistan Customs, who was shot and injured by unidentified men on Saturday expired on Sunday. According to his family, the funeral procession of the deceased will be taken from his home, B.7, A-1 Arcade Block 13-C-1, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, at 1PM today (Monday). The funeral prayers would be offered after Zohr prayers at the Masjid-e-Quba, Sector 13-C-1.
Meanwhile, a body of woman was found from Chakra Goth. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the deceased was ascertained as Faiza.
