Shikarpur blast: half of deaths occurred due to lack of emergency aid: Haleem

04 Feb, 2015

Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) Sindh President Haleem Adil Shaikh said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should visit Shikarpur to express solidarity with the families of blast victims. He also said that the scope of National Action Plan should be extended to counter such incidents. Speaking at a press conference here at Karachi Press Club, Adil said that despite the passage of four days, no proper action had been taken to provide relief to the affected persons in Shikarpur.
He claimed that half of the deaths had occurred due to lack of emergency aid. "Shikarpur district has a huge population but only 25 doctors are available in Civil Hospital," he said adding that only two doctors out of the 25 were present in the hospital when the injured persons were being shifted.
Criticising the Prime Minister, he said that Shikarpur blast happened when the PM was in Karachi but he did not bother to visit the district to express solidarity with the people. He was of the view that only passing resolution was not a solution to any problem. He said that Muhalla committees should be formed at police station levels and funds be given to commissioners for proper distribution.
