Ukraine exported 21.9 million tonnes of grain between July 1, 2014, and February 5, almost the same volume it exported a season earlier, the agriculture ministry said on Thursday. This included 8.7 million tonnes of wheat, 9.2 million tonnes of maize and 3.8 million tonnes of barley, it said in a statement. Agriculture Minister Oleksiy Pavlenko said last month that Ukraine's grain exports were likely to total about 37 million tonnes of versus 32.8 million tonnes in the previous season.
The government and traders agreed last month that no more than 1.2 million tonnes of Ukrainian milling wheat would be exported between January 1 and June 30. According to the agreement, sales of milling wheat will not exceed 900,000 tonnes in the first quarter in 2015 and 300,000 in the following three months. Exports of feed wheat would not exceed 3.4 million tonnes in January-June, while shipments of maize could be no more than 13.2 million tonnes in the same period. Ukraine harvested 63.8 million tonnes of grain in 2014.
