Shutdown will be observed in IOK today

Complete shutdown will be observed on Monday and Wednesday to impress upon India to return mortal remains of martyred liberation leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru for proper burial in the territory. Call for the strike has been given by pro-freedom leaders and organisations to mark the anniversaries of Muhammad Afzal Guru and Muhammad Maqbool Butt, who were executed in New Delhi's Tihar Jail on 9th February in 2013 and 11th February in 1984. Both the leaders remain buried in the premises of the jail, KMS reported.
The authorities arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shoukat Bakhshi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash and Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with several other Hurriyet activists and lodged them in different police stations and jails.
The authorities also placed Hurriyet leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Ayaz Akbar under house arrest. The veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement denounced the arrests and vowed that the Kashmiris were struggling for their basic right and would succeed in their mission at the end of the day. Hurriyet leaders and organisations including Agha Syed Hasan Al-Moosvi-Al-Safvi, Aasiya Andrabi, Zamruda Habib, Zafar Akbar Butt, Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Political Front and Peoples Freedom League in their statements and meetings paid glowing tributes to the martyrs.
They said that Muhammad Afzal Guru And Muhammad Maqbool Butt sacrificed their lives for the Kashmir cause.
