Business community on Friday condemned terrorist attacks in Peshawar and urged all the Parliamentary parties to take a united stand to weed out the menace of terrorism. The LCCI President Ijaz A Mumtaz, Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir, Vice President Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi and Executive Committee Members in a joint statement termed the terrorist attacks a cowardly act and an ugly attempt to destabilise country aimed at creating an impression of unsafe place in the eyes of international community.
They urged the government to cope with law and order related incidents with iron hands that have jolted the very basis of the country. They said that any further delay in taking a strong stand against terrorists would cause undue damage to the country. Security Forces and government were already putting in their best efforts to weed out the menace of terrorism but all political parties should also join hands and play their role in this regard.
Meanwhile, Progressive Group, a representative platform of businessmen and traders also strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Imamia Mosque and Imambargah in Peshawar on Friday, which claimed lives of 19 people and injuries to dozens of others. Expressing its deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives, the Group President Khalid Usman and Secretary Information Muhammad Ejaz Tanveer said those involved in attacks on places of worships especially belonging to different sects of Islam are not serving the religion or the Ummah rather serving enemies of Ummah and the country. Progressive Group leaders urged the government to evolve some solid security strategy in consultation with the army to control such acts in the future.
