The Sindh High Court on Friday issued notice to the Sindh home secretary, IGP Sindh, Rangers director general, SSP South and other officials respondents to file comments on a petition filed against illegal detention of a Lyari's boxer by the paramilitary troops.
A division bench, headed by Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, was hearing a petition filed by Haseena Bibi, a resident of Lyari, who moved the court seeking whereabouts of her son, Ameer Bux. Citing the home secretary, IGP Sindh, Sindh Rangers director general and Rangers Wing Commander, officials of People's Football Stadium and others as respondents, the women petitioner stated that some people in uniform of Rangers personnel came to her house in Lyari area and whisked her son away to unknown place on February 03. She said her son, who had participated in various boxing matches and won awards, was still missing.
The woman petitioner said her relatives had approached officials of law- enforcement agencies to seek details about her missing son but they refused to disclose his whereabouts. She added officials of the Kalri police station also refused to register a case against the illegal detention of her son by the paramilitary troops. She said her son was not affiliated to any religious or political organisation nor was involved in any criminal activity. She told the court that her missing son was kept in illegal detention as he was not being produced in any court of law if he was involved in any criminal activity.
