There is intense speculation in Islamabad that close friends and expatriate supporters of Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan have purchased a plane for his excessive use. Well-placed sources revealed to this correspondent that a group of Imran Khan's trusted aides decided to jointly purchase a plane for his use after he was criticised for using Jehangir Tareen's company's plane.
They further revealed that the group is currently in Dubai and has reportedly purchased the plane, which will be flown to Pakistan by the end of this month. The aircraft will have the capacity of 8 to 12 seats.
The PTI chairman has been using the plane of Jehangir Tareen, a rich industrialist from southern Punjab, who is also PTI secretary general, for official purposes and ensuring his timely presence at party jalsas around the country. The sources said the group of friends who has purchased the plane will also bear the fuel expenses. However, Umer Cheema, the spokesman for PTI chairman, denied personal knowledge of the purchase.
