Judicial commission: Khursheed mediating between PTI, PML-N

19 Feb, 2015

Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah is trying to mediate between Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) with a view to resolving a dispute on the composition of a judicial commission to investigate vote rigging allegations.
"I and Opposition Leader in the Senate Aitzaz Ahsan met Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday to discuss the issue. I also talked to PT Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the two groups will sit together to resolve the issue," the Opposition Leader said while talking to media on Wednesday.
He said that the PTI should come to the Parliament and play its role for betterment of the country. "If the two parties do not resolve their disputes over the formation of Judicial Commission amicably then it will be harmful for the democratic system and constitution," he added.
To a question, the Opposition Leader claimed that PLM-N government was preparing and paving the way for rigging in upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan by mysteriously appointing its Governor in Gilgit-Baltistan and rolling backing the 'G-B Empowerment Order 2009'.
To another question, he said that the PML-N government had accepted the PPP proposal to cut Parliament's term to four years during the PTI sit-in. However, he added, the PML-N backed out from its commitment over the issue. To a question, he said that it was not appropriate to give role in maintaining law and order of the province to the Apex Committee. He claimed that the PML-N government was going to mar the system of the provinces. It should not create such circumstances which would hurt the country, he advised.
