Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda) restarting the distribution of the cheques of grants under Economic Revitalisation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA (ERKF) Project in the crisis-affected SMEs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Friday.
The distribution of grants' cheques under the Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) funded project was withheld over flimsy allegations to which two different inquiries were conducted under the directives of the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of the province and both had cleared the project of the allegations.
In this connection, a ceremony for distribution of cheques will be held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI) where 25 crisis-affected SMEs will be given grants' cheque worth Rs 15 million. The US $20 million ERKF project was launched in May 2012 and till June 2014, a total of 1,260 SMEs were issued grants to the tune of over one billion rupees. The project was framed for 850 SMEs.
