The Sindh government has agreed to constitute a "Joint Investigation Team," so as to bring to task the actual perpetrators behind Shikarpur Tragedy, said Sindh Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon. Addressing a press conference at CM's House following deliberations between the provincial government and Saneha Shikarpur Committee, Memon said the government had only on Wednesday arranged a meeting between the affected people of Shikarpur tragedy with Director General of Sindh Rangers.
He said that Saneha Shikarpur Committee had repeatedly said that their long march and sit-in were not against Sindh government.
The government has also agreed to register an FIR of the attack against the nominated terrorists. Moreover, heirs of those who lost their lives due to target killing in Karachi would also be provided support money whereas injured would be offered job under five percent quota for disabled, said the minister.
The minister said that Rs 20 lacs would be given to the heirs of Shaheed Shafqat Abbas. He said perpetrators of the Shikarpur case would be tried by military court and that Sindh Apex Committee shall monitor the joint operation by Rangers and police against harbingers of such heinous crimes.
He said foolproof security would be ensured at relevant institutions while the government properties occupied by the banned outfits would be got vacated. Graffiti and provocative wall chalking would be immediately erased while banners inscribed with hate material will also be removed, he added. The Minister said the government would also ensure that stringent action is taken against banned outfits and their supporters.
Entry of all foreigners, without relevant documents, would be necessarily reported to the police stations concerned, Sharjeel said. Earlier Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah referred to a series of measures adopted by the provincial government for the affected people of the tragedy.
