The Pakistani Consulate General in Chicago has initiated steps to put members of the Pakistani community in touch with each other so as to bring them on one platform for common good, a press release said on Thursday. About 50 Pakistanis living in Chicago participated at the Consulate premises what was described as a "networking event" to bring about unity among the ranks of the community members and to carry out joint activities.
Consul General Faisal Niaz Tirmizi underscored the importance of connectivity and urged academics as well as Pakistani entrepreneurs and professionals to provide help and guidance to young students. The response at the gathering was positive and enthusiastic.
In another development, the Consulate organized the screening of a documentary "Rediscovering Pakistan - the Untold Tale" at Chicago's East West University that attracted 250 viewers on a bitterly cold day. The movie based on a biking journey of a Pakistani Moin with his American friends across Pakistan's northern areas - portrays Pakistan as a peaceful country. Moin, the brain behind the endeavour, has already had a number of screenings in the US and is now headed to Europe. He plans to undertake five more biking trips to Pakistan along with his foreign friends in 2015.
