Transporters demand action against traffic police

President of Karachi Transport Action Committee Muhammad Ashraf Banglori on Sunday showed concern over taking of bribe by the traffic police from transporters and appealed to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic Police, Karachi, to help rid the public transport of this menace. In a statement, he said the traffic police should be reformed as majority of the traffic police personnel were involved in bribe. He said the traffic police show heavy fine tokens to drivers and then receives bribe from them.
He said: "Every campaign of the Traffic Police causes increase in bribe from transporters." Ashraf said the traffic police give permission to rickshaws to set stands along main roads which is illegal act and loss to transporters.
He appealed to high-ups of Traffic Police to take action against those personnel who are taking bribe from drivers.
