President, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KPCCI), Fawad Ishaq has demanded stern action against the official for filing baseless case against Economic Revitalisation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA (ERKF) project and called for the disposing of the pending cases of 157 more SMEs as soon as possible.
Addressing a ceremony held here in connection with the distribution of grant cheques worth Rs 15 million in 24 crisis-hit SMEs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under ERKF project here in Chamber House on Friday.
Special Assistant to CM on Industries and Commerce, Abdul Monim Khan was chief guest on the occasion. Besides, former president, KPCCI, Ghazanfar Bilour, provincial chief, SMEDA, Javed Iqbal Khattak, Manager SMEDA, Rashid Aman, executive members and large number of SMEs also attended the meeting.
The president, KPCCI said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have battled terrorism with bravery and courage. Therefore, he urged the government to frame policies for the promotion of industrialisation in the province in consultations with the chamber.
Fawad Ishaq said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by battling the war of the salvation of Pakistan have played the role of the soldiers of the country. He said that despite directly affecting by the terrorism and extremism, the business community of the province has exhibited bravery. Therefore, he called for taking stern action against the elements involved in creating hurdles in their rehabilitation.
He urged the provincial government for the disposition of the pending cases of 157 SMEs under ERKF project as soon as possible and issue cheques to the affected business community.
In his speech on the occasion, Special Assistant to CM, Abdul Monim assured that in future no such inquiry will be conducted and those who had filed baseless complaints were aimed to hide their own malpractices and incompetency, saying the government will take action in this regard.
He said that the provincial government in consultations with KPCCI will take measures for the promotion of industrialisation in the province and economic policies will frame in consultations with the business community of the province.
The Special Assistant said that the provincial government is keen in setting up of new industries to generate employment opportunities. In this, he said the provincial government is also learning from the experience of the other provinces. He said that on February 24, 2014, the official of the provincial government along with PTI chief Imran Khan will go Abu Dubai for organising a road show to attract investment in the potential sectors of the province.
Later, the Special Assistant to CM, Abdul Monim and KPCCI president, Fawad Ishaq given away grants cheques to 24 crisis-affected SMEs of the province.
