LUMHS to hold seminar on dental education

Liaquat University of Medical Hospital and Science (LUMHS) would hold seminar on "Achieving Excellence in Dental Education for Pakistan 2015" at Governor Sindh House Karachi on February 25. The convenor of the seminar, Professor Shahjahan Katpar made this announcement while speaking a press conference at Hyderabad Press Club that Governor Sindh, Dr Isharat-ul-Ebad had consented to be the chief guest at the event.
All vice chancellors and heads of private and public universities, having dental constituent institute, have been invited to the event, he said. Faculty members and principals of dental institutes are invited to address the agenda of programme.
The aim of the seminar is to introduce new disciples, which are being taught internationally in the most colleges and institutes of dental and not existing in BDS Graduate program in Pakistan to meet international standards, he added. He hoped that the seminar would help develop consensus to change prevailing dental graduate program of four years to five years. He said that last year, the same seminar was organized where proposals and suggestions were forwarded to higher authority including PMDC and HEC but they have not been implemented fully so far. Dr Saroop Bhatia, Dr Amir and Dr Abdul Jabar were present on the occasion.
