In order to overcome the shortage of specialist doctors at district headquarters and tehsil headquarters hospitals, Punjab government is introducing new policy under which special package will also be offered. Advisor on Health Kh Salman Rafiq said that final shape has been given to the steps of posting 10 and five specialist doctors at district headquarters and Tehsil headquarters hospitals, respectively and special pay package for them.
"Details of proposed package and criteria of submitting applications will be published in newspapers within next few days," Salman said while presiding over a meeting regarding posting of specialist doctors at district and Tehsil headquarters hospitals and special pay package.
Parliamentary Secretary Health Kh Imran Nazir, Secretary Health Punjab Jawad Rafiq, DG Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Additional Secretary Health (Admin) Adnan Zafar, Project Director Punjab Health Sector Reforms Ali Bahadar Qazi and other officers attended the meeting.
The meeting gave final shape to the minimum and maximum special allowances for specialist doctors of grade 18 and 19 according to which the distance of district and Tehsil hospitals from metropolitan cities and divisional headquarters has also been kept in view and specialist doctors of remote areas will get more monitory benefits and its limit can be from Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000 per month. It also discussed the method of posting of specialist doctors at District and Tehsil headquarters hospitals.
The meeting was informed that regular doctors working as medical officers and women medical officers in government hospitals and have the requisite qualification in concerned department will be offered for their posting as specialist doctors and they can also submit applications for which criteria and final date will be announced through advertisements in newspapers and after that new specialist doctors will be recruited on remaining seats.
Kh Salman Rafiq directed that all process should be completed at the earliest and advertisement should be given in the newspaper so that the process of posting of specialist doctors in Tehsil and district headquarters hospitals could be completed according to the vision of Chief Minister Punjab and so people would get best treatment facilities.
