United States Embassy in Islamabad Saturday stated that American Consulate Generals in Lahore and Peshawar to "remain open", as the embassy has earlier announced that the consulates are open, but with a limited operational status after the recent terrorist attacks.
A spokesperson for the US Embassy in Islamabad told Business Recorder that "our consulates remain open". However, it was not known whether the routine work in both the consulates, has resumed or they still have the limited operational status. In a clarification on Wednesday, the Embassy stated that US Consulate General Lahore and US Consulate General Peshawar are open, but have a limited operational status, which does not includes provision of consular services, as has been the case for some time.
US Consulate General Karachi continues to provide full consular services, as the US Embassy in Islamabad is doing. The US Department of State routinely issues updated travel warnings for countries around the world, the Embassy added. On February 17, the Embassy through an emergency message cautioned the American citizens after the terrorists attack in Lahore near Police Lines.
