Abbas Ali Khan,a five handicapper and Shoaib Shams a nine handicapper emerged as winners in the 9th Infotech Golf Championship staged at the Royal Palm Golf Course. Both the golfers used their skills to become entitled to the top prizes in the gross and net categories. Abbas Ali Khan won the best gross and Shoaib Shams picked up the best net trophy to outshine the other 83 competitors who also fought competitively but had to be content with positions lower down the victory ladder.
Conditions were challenging at the golf course and even some accomplished golfers like Mohsen Zafar, Faisal Syed, Taimur Shabbir, Shoaib Bokhari, Nasir Mehmood and Hashim Butt ended up with gross scores in the 80 plus range and thus could not succeed in achieving excellence.
As for the net winner, Shoaib Shams, his score of net 72 reflected good, steady play. "I really enjoyed my hitting" said Shoaib and "my strategy was to go for regulation pars". The other man of excellence for the day was Abbas Ali Khan and his score in the gross category was gross 77 backed by extremely accurate hitting and nerves free putting on the greens.
In the handicap category 13 to 18 the conquering invader in gross category was Asim Tiwana, thanks to some fanciful hitting, while Faisal Hassan was the runner up.
