President Site Association of Industry (SAI), Muhammad Jawed Bilwani, has said that training of civil defence was vital, whether it was war or peace. He urged the government to impart national defence training to students and industrial workers so that they could be prepared to deal with a natural disaster or terrorist attack.
Speaking at a seminar entitled "Civil defence and demonstration on fire fighting and fire prevention", organised by the Association to mark the World Civil Defence Day, he said that disaster which means an event that occurs in most cases suddenly and without any warning or symptoms, causing severe disturbances to people, objects and environment, resulting in loss of precious life, property and health of the population.
Deputy Commissioner Syed Mohammad Ali Shah said that in view of the importance of the civil defence to deal with any eventuality, the government was taking effective steps to raise awareness among various segments of the civil society for getting the civil defence training so that they could also extend their due share for saving the precious life and property.
Civil Defence Training officer, Altaf Husain said that Civil Defence Training is an organisation of the citizens to minimise the effects of any enemy action. In clear terms it is organised to give service to victims and take action to minimize damage to human life and property from enemy bombing and land and naval attacks. It aims at restoring quick normalcy to essential services, industrial units and other walks of life, after an attack.
