Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Mohammad Pervez Malik, who is also Chairman of the Committee for Horse & Cattle Show 2015, in a speech to businessmen on Monday, announced that this year's show would be looking for fresh avenues for investment.
In his speech, he also elaborated on the importance of the agriculture, livestock and dairy sectors in the economic development. "Our future is linked with the livestock sector, and we have to take practical steps to improve this sector."
He went on to say that Punjab government was exploiting its potential to rid the country of the economic ills, while criticising the failures of the former governments. The PML-N leader then accused them of ignoring the agriculture, livestock and dairy sectors, adding that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif was taking measures to fully exploit what he termed "the untapped potential" of these sectors.
He said "The livestock sector is the backbone of economy and promotion of this important sector cannot only help eliminate poverty and unemployment but can also earn a huge foreign exchange through export of livestock and dairy products. The development of the livestock and dairy sector is one of the priorities of the government and we are using all resources in that direction," he said. He claimed that Punjab government was caring the farmers to enhance the production, saying the private sector was also being encouraged. He said his government had taken steps to develop Cholistan and already set up five modern livestock farms.
