WAPDA workers protest against privatisation

On the call of Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Workers Union (PWHWU), alike other parts of province, the protest was held against privatization of HESCO and other power distributions and generation companies. HESCO workers staged the sit-in protests after closing their offices outside respective HESCO office in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Various protest rallies were taken out from different offices which were led by union leaders including Abdul Latif Nizamani, Wali Dad Chandio and all rallies ended at HESCO Chief Office.
On the occasion, Nizamani said that workers would take all efforts to resist the move of privatisation of power companies. In first stage, they are protesting where they closed the offices, he said adding if such move was not stopped, they would stop whole supply of electricity across the country. Whatever loss or damage occurred, the government would be responsible, he said. At initial stage, they protest for three day after closing their office and if government did give up this idea, they would expand scope of protest.
