Taiwan stocks ease

Taiwan stocks dipped on Tuesday as investors took profits on recent gains. As of 0212 GMT, the main TAIEX index was down 0.2 percent, or 20.52 points, at 9580.84, after closing down 0.2 percent on Monday. The electronics subindex was down 0.2 percent, while the financial subindex was off 0.4 percent. Locally listed exchange traded funds that track China's A-shares retreated after gaining on Monday on hopes that China's weekend interest rate cut would help avert a sharper slowdown in its economy.
W.I.S.E. SSE 50 China Tracker ETF was off 1 percent and Fuh Hwa CSI 300 A Shares ETF was down 0.8 percent. The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.159 to stand at T$31.409 to the US dollar.
