The Second round of anti-polio drive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under "Sehat Ka Ittehad" programme completed. During the three days round, about 2.7 million children of age group below five years in 21 districts were vaccinated. This number is more than 97 per cent of the total target set for the second round and special catch up activities are in progress to achieve the rest of the target for which special tasks have been assigned to Deputy Commissioners and District Health Officers of the concerned district.
Hopefully, the remaining target will also be achieved in a couple of days to come. According to a report of Polio Emergency Operation centre of Health Department, hundred per cent targets have been achieved in district Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Chitral, D.I.Khan, Lower Dir, Haripur, Kohistan, Lakki Marwat, Hangu and Nowshera.
According to district wise details; 30154 children were vaccinated in district Abbottabad, 174143 in Bannu, 17395 in Buner, 260812 in Charsadda, 959 in Chitral, 297489 in D.I.Khan, 7008 in Dir Lower, 116764 in Hangu, 44062 in Haripur, 71547 in Karak, 98980 in Kohat, 73347 in Kohistan, 370836 in Mardan, 120866 in Nowshera, 679857 in Peshawar, 32648 in Swabi and 78666 children were immunised in Tank, while final report of district Torghar is delayed due to fault in communication system. Third round of anti-polio drive under "Sehat Ka Ittehad" will commence from 16th March.
