KP police establish three more zones of CTD

On the directives of Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani 3 more zones of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) have been established throughout the province with immediate effect.
The Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani after assuming the charge of his office established CTD in October 2013 to bring harmony in its action against the hard core criminals. Prior to this, CTD was working with the name of CID, later its nomenclature changed into DCT which was performing only as an intelligence gathering institution to pass it to the districts and other units of police force for further action. Blame game erupted amongst different concerned units when the intelligence could not materialise which adversely affect the performance of the whole force against the terrorist.
The IGP Nasir Khan Durrani deemed it fit to make it a full-fledged institution with the mandate together intelligence, launch operation as well as conduct investigation against the hard core criminals. Beside this different analysis wings have also been established in it for research and intelligence purposes. Taking action and tighten noose around the neck of kidnappers, militants extortionists and target killer is the domain of the CTD.
The CTD during the last fortnight operation conducted in different parts of the province arrested 93 hard core criminals, which included 49 terrorists, 8 kidnappers, 29 extortionists and 7 target killers. The terrorist also included high ranking commander of the defunct militant out fits involved in different IED's and bomb blast attacks. The CTD also recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition from the arrested out laws.
The decision of establishment of 3 more zones was taken to further harness the activities of the CTD and bring conformity in its action against the hard core out laws.
Each zone will be supervised by an officer of the rank of SSP/SP. The zone 1 to be called Northern Zone will consist of all districts of Hazara and Malakand Regions while Central Zone to be known as zone 2 will comprise on Capital City Police Peshawar and all districts of Mardan Region. All districts of Kohat and Bannu and D.I.Khan regions will be part of the Southern Zone ie Zone 3.
With the establishment of the above zones now co-ordinated efforts will be made against the militants, kidnappers, extortionists and target killers hidden in far plunged area of the province.
