Pakistan's gold import nosedived by 93 percent during July-Jan 2014-15 to $12.346 million from $172.950 in corresponding period of last fiscal year, official figures showed. The gold import fell to $160.604 million in July-Jan 2014-15 from $172.950 million in July-Jan 2013-14, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
In term of volume, gold import slumped by 3876 kilograms (93 percent) to mere 301 kilograms in July-Jan 2014-15 from 4,177 kilograms in July-Jan 2013-14. In Jan 2015, the country's gold import plummeted by 10.437 million (92.03 percent) to $904,000 from $11.341 million in Jan 2014. Gold import quantity also scaled down by 216 kilograms (90 percent) to only 24 kilograms in Jan 2015 from 240 kilograms in Jan 2014, the statistics showed.
