KP and FATA: rallies, functions held to mark Pakistan Day

Likewise, other parts' of the country, Pakistan Day was celebrated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata with national zeal and fervour on Monday. Different political parties, traders and religious groups held meetings, processions, seminars and rallies in the provincial metropolis to celebrate the day. Workers of Jamaat-ud-Dawa took out a procession on motorcycles and passed through different bazaars. Later, they held a rally outside Peshawar Press Club.
The Pakistan Day commemorates March 23, 1940, when the Muslim League demanded the establishment of separate nations to protect Muslims in the then British colony of India. The day was started with a 31-gun dawn salute, in federal and 21-gun salute in provinces across the country. A stringent security steps have been made on the eve of national day in KPK and tribal region.
The activists of proscribed Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuDs) took out the rally from Haji camp and through different busiest bazars, reached to opposite cantonment Railway Station wherein it culminated. The rally was spearheaded by JuDs leaders Haji Muhammad Iqbal, Haji Muhammad Omar, Ghazi Inamullah and Sadaqat Hussain spoke on the occasion. The participants were holding flags, banners, and placards inscribed with slogans in favour of Islam and Pakistan.
The speakers highlighted the significance of the Pakistan Day and urged the nation to forge unity for welfare and protection of the country and foil the nefarious designs of the enemies. They said that the country had come into being after great sacrifices by people and vowed that they would render all kinds of sacrifices for its protection.
Similarly, the workers of Pasban also held a rally from Ghanta ghar to sadder Peshawar. Led by provincial leaders of the party, Chandi Wala, and Azam Minhas, and others, the participants viewed that it was a day of commitment that no one would be allowed to harm the country and they would take unified stand for restoration of peace. "There dire need to forge unity and religious spirit among their ranks to overcome with growing internal and external challenges confronting to the country", they stressed.
The speakers viewed that a conspiracy is being hatched to make Pakistan as a secular State, for which millions of dollars are being spent and wanted to erase status of the country as Islamic State by putting the nation in schizophrenia. So, he said that unity and solidarity is indispensable to completely eradicate terrorism and bring normalcy in the country. Also, religious parties, like Jamaat-i-Islami, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam of different factions, traders, and non-governmental organisations held functions, rallies on this special day.
In Fata, Pakistan Day was celebrated with great zeal across Bajaur Agency on Sunday to mark the passage of Pakistan Resolution which led to the creation of separate homeland for Muslims of India. Local administration and various political and social organisations held functions to mark the day. The main function was organised by the Pakistan Army at Khar.
The Pakistan Army soldiers on Monday have laid wreath at the Army Shuhada memorial in connection with March 23 Pakistan Day. According to the details, the soldiers at the army base in Landi Kotal Tehsil laid wreath at the Pakistan Army Shuhada memorial and prayed for the martyrs. Students of the army school Landi Kotal were also present on the occasion. As many as 88 army soldiers have embraced martyrdom so far in war against terror in Waziristan and Khyber Agency, while addressing the participants
The different political and religious organisations, held rallies functions, walks and procession on mark Pakistan Day in Saidu Sharif, Swat. On the occasion, Students of different government and private schools in their speeches highlighted the historical background of Pakistan Day while some students presented national songs.
Different functions were held at Maidan, Munda, Timergara, Talash and Chakdara in Timergara, wherein students presented speeches, tableaus and sang patriotic songs to mark Pakistan Day with national zeal. Jamat-ud-Dawa, Lower Dir, also organised a walk in Timergara to celebrate the day.
