Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated Christian community that celebrated Easter with religious zeal and fervor in the provincial capital and other big cities and towns of Punjab on Sunday.
In a felicitation message, the Chief Minister said the Christian community is playing a vigorous role in national development and stability. Ensuring basic rights to minorities and protection of their life and property is the responsibility of the State and Punjab government is discharging its responsibility in this regard in an efficient manner, he added.
He said services of Christian community for Pakistan especially in education, health and other social sectors are commendable.
It may be added that the Christian community celebrated this day which, according to the Christian faith, marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, with special prayers in all churches of the city.
The day started with special religious rituals, prayers and exchange of greetings among family members as well as messages of goodwill and prosperity. Special prayers were offered for national solidarity, peace and prosperity of Pakistan. Special security arrangements were made around all main churches of the city.
