The news of a donkey being recused after it was brutally tortured and beaten has caused an uproar by social media users. ACF Animal Rescue shared images of a wounded donkey that was severely tortured, after which it was saved by the non-government organisation (NGO).
According to the NGO, supporters of a political party tortured the animal and wrote slogans on the poor donkey to prove a point against the opposing party. The NGO further wrote in the post that the donkey was beaten to a pulp, punched in the face and abdomen several times, nose broken, kicked all over his body until he collapsed.
Social media users shared their grief and anger regarding the incident. Many accused Imran Khan for the incident as few days ago he had said that those who will go to welcome Nawaz Sharif at the airport are 'donkeys'.
The Pakistani rapper, stand-up comedian and actor Ali Gul Pir tweeted that politicians need to be careful with their words.
This is what happens when you are irresponsible with ur words politicians. Ur followers are so jahil and barbaric they will do such things. That's why we must discuss policies, not result to name calling. I hope you learn from this @ImranKhanPTI https://t.co/digAKjIRDr

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf tweeted on Tuesday a picture of a dog, which was covered with posters of the party. The party wrote that animal abuse needs to stop whether it is being done by PTI supporter or opponent parties.
Whether it is #PTI supporters who beat up a donkey, or Imran Khan opponents who did the same to a dog.... this reveals a vile degeneration in our basic mindset of humanity. This kind of cruelty has to stop across the board. pic.twitter.com/Y5MXAV3IfV
