The Special Customs Court, Rawalpindi, headed by Judge Mumtaz Hussain, on Saturday extended the judicial remand of supermodel Ayyan Ali till April 24. The Special Customs Court on Saturday heard the supermodel Ayyan Ali money laundering case.
When the hearing was begun, a member of the Customs investigation team complained about the non-cooperation by jail authorities. Customs team member Yousuf Mughal informed the court that notices have been issued to some witnesses of the defense but some of them are yet to appear before the team. He argued that its completion would take time, urging the court for more time.
The judge ordered the team to complete investigation and produce complete challan before the court on the next hearing scheduled to be held on April 24.
During the hearing Ayyan informed the court that she wanted to produce another witness before the court. The judge ordered the investigation team to record her witness statement and produce him on the next hearing.
Ayyan was arrested by Customs officials on March 14 from Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad after $506,800 had been recovered from her possession.
A large number of lawyers and reporters were waiting outside the Customs court after they learnt that Ayyan would appear before the judge.
To media persons' questions, she said she would produce a film on how inmates in Adiala jail are treated and live. "I'll produce a film on jail life and different characters playing their role there," she said.
