SHC restrains KMC from razing wedding lawn set up on club's plot

14 Apr, 2015

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday barred Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) from taking any adverse action in respect of razing a wedding lawn in Bahadurabad area.
A division bench headed by Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi gave this restraining order on a petition filed by M/S Orenz Events Management Company against civic authorities for demolishing its lawn.
The bench issued notice to the respondents - Sindh Chief Secretary, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation's administrator and its anti-encroachment cell and others to file comments on petition till April 27.
The petitioner's counsel submitted that in 2011 Bahadur Yar Jung Cooperative Housing Society had leased out a plot in Block 3, Bahadurabab to Bahadurabad Club Private Limited for setting up a club for welfare of the society members. Subsequently, the club management, in order to run its affairs smoothly and meet expenses, entered into an agreement with the petitioner and allotted a portion of the club to the petitioner for establishing a wedding lawn.
