Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Major General Asghar Nawaz asked the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to establish a proper dedicated system at district level as well as local level for prompt response and start relief activities.
He stated this while addressing a meeting at PDMA KP office. Secretary, Relief Rehabilitation & Settlement Department Tariq Rashid and Director General PDMA Amer Afaq were also present.
While talking to the meeting held under the chair of Chairman NDMA, Director General PDMA said, "PDMA is presently working on two major projects i.e. Strengthening of Provincial Emergency Operation Centre (PEOO) and Revamping of MIS and Establishment of DRM Strategic Unit which help PDMA in systematic communication system and disaster risk reduction.
He said PDMA is hosting and providing relief since 2012 to two major displaced population relief camps in Jalozai (Nowshera) having strength of 6,962 families and Toghsarai (Hangu) with 1,154 families.
Similarly, it was informed that PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has disbursed 960 million rupees amongst the affectees of North Waziristan Agency, under "Esaar-e-Pakhtunkhwa Programme. PDMA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is struggling with all its possible resources to mitigate the disasters' damages in the province.
