Karachi Port's activities

The Karachi Port handled 178,415 tonnes of cargo comprising 157,336 tonnes of import cargo and 21,079 tonnes of export cargo including NA loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.
The total import cargo of 157,336 tonnes comprised of 66,925 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,060 tonnes of general cargo; 4,073 tonnes of soyabean meal and 84,278 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 21,079 tonnes comprised of 19,036 tonnes of containerised cargo; 50 tonnes of general cargo; 1,993 tonnes of bulk cargo; 996 tonnes of cement and 997 tonnes of rice.
As many as 6,678 containers comprising of 2,535 containers import and 4,143 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,096 of 20's and 476 of 40's loaded while 309 of 20's and 89 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 697 of 20's and 703 of 40's loaded containers while 822 of 20's and 609 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely KMTC Mumbai, YM Excellence, ER Helgoland, PAC Aries, Ever Radiant and Captain Costas carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Hyundai Bangkok, Lissy Schulte, APL Seattle, Nagoya Tower and BW Zambesi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Desh Suraksha, Grand Vega, Grand Bridge and Chipolbrok Moon carrying oil tanker vehicle rice and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Friday, while two ships namely Hyundai Bangkok and Nagoya Tower carrying containers are expected to sail on Saturday.
There were four vessels viz. Sakaka, Ocean Star-1, Alam Madu and Grand Vega carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle and cement respectively due to arrive on Friday, while five vessels viz. ER Helgoland, Sheng Shi, Al Mahboobah, Ikan Pandan and Ocean Skipper carrying containers, chemical, coal, vehicle and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Saturday.
