Margalla Hills tunnel project: SC seeks report from NHA

The Supreme Court on Friday sought report from National Highway Authority (NHA) pertaining to Margalla Hills tunnel project and issued notices to Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governments in the stone crushing matter. A three-judge bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja resumed hearing of the plea of President Margalla Hill Society (MHS) Roedad Khan and a matter relating to stone crushing on the territorial jurisdictions of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
The bench issued notices to government of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa in the stone crushing matter while citing a truck driver letter to apex court who claimed that more than 64 trucks of concrete were being supplied to various areas of the country. MHS's counsel Syed Nayab Gardazi informed the bench that the people who submitted applications in the apex court about stone crushing in the area were being harassed by the officials of cement factory. The bench issued notices to Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governments in the stone crushing matter and sought report from the NHA on Margalla Hills tunnel project by May 13.
