Pakistan Peoples' Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has grieved the death of Malik Ahmed Saeed Awan who died in Faisalabad on Thursday. He was buried in his ancestral graveyard in Bhakkar. Ahmed Saeed Awan had been with the party since the time of late founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
He went to jail in the Jehlum Prison where he received 10 lashes during the struggle for restoration of democracy during General Ziaul Haq's era. He remained loyal to the party all his life and was appointed a Lahore High Court judge by the late Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto during her second tenure. He also served as state minister for information and broadcasting in the first Bhutto government in 1988. He also held posts of party presidency of the Faisalabad Division and vice presidency in the Punjab between 1977 and 1988.-PR
