Sindh Chamber of Agriculture has decided to file a petition with National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the officials of Food Department allegedly involved in selling gunny bags to traders illegally rather than growers and farmers in the province.
The decision was taken in a meeting held with President SCA Syed Nadeem Qamar in the chair simultaneously at Karachi, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Sukkur and Gotki through video-link on Sunday.
In the meeting, growers expressed serious concerns over the issue and said that the officials of food department allegedly involved in the huge corruption as they were selling gunny bags to traders but growers and farmers were not being provided the bags in spite of many protests launched by them.
"The gunny bags are not being provided to us despite assurance made by Sindh Minister for Food, Gianchand Israni," he said, adding that they have no option but to file a petition with NAB. Besides, they said that they would cooperate with NAB in providing evidences if required by it, they said.
