Hashoo Foundation, in collaboration with Rotary Books for the World Programme, held its Rotary Books distribution ceremony at Umeed-e-Noor in Islamabad on Wednesday. The focus of this event was to contribute in improving literacy efforts across Pakistan by distributing books and educational material among educational institutes and libraries.
Rotary Books for the World and The Second Wind Foundation donated 200,000 books which Hashoo Foundation actively assisted in sorting and then distributing at the event. Commenting on this year's books distribution, Chief Guest Nafeesa Khattak, Member of National Assembly, emphasised the importance of education and appreciated Hashoo Foundation's efforts to aid literacy in Pakistan. "One of our main focuses as a nation is to eradicate literacy and we need to take concrete steps at the grassroots level towards this aim. I appreciate Hashoo Foundation's commitment and believe that this initiative will go a long way towards the fulfilment of our aim. I will urge more institutions and organisation to dedicate resource in order to uproot illiteracy from Pakistan," she said.-PR
