Punjab Minister for Labour & HR Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will announce Punjab's first ever Labour Policy after the 18th Amendment as well as inaugurate the construction project of Labour Welfare Complex adjacent to Sundar Industrial Estate Manga Raiwind Road on International Labour Day.
He said that while addressing the concluding session of a 3-day training workshop for international labour standards, organized by Pakistan Workers Federation Punjab and International Labour Organisation (ILO), here on Wednesday.
Representatives from ILO Geneva, Ragwan and Vera, President PWF Punjab Chaudhry Naseem Iqbal, General Secretary Zahoor Ahmed Awan, Chairman Workers Employees Council of Pakistan Punjab Chapter Malik Tahir Javed along with representatives of employees and labour unions from all over the Pakistan attended the workshop.
Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that the training workshop will prove helpful improving the international labour standards in industrial sector to facilitate more from GSP-Plus Status improving the working condition of the industrial workers through decent work, implementing on health and safety measures. Minister Labour informed the workshop that right of trade unionism, strengthening social dialogues, adopting alternative dispute resolution mechanism, timeframe for labour judiciary, eradication of child and labour bounded, reinvigorate inspection machinery, social security and workers welfare, labour laws rationalisation, simplification and enhancing minimum wages are included in the first labour policy of Punjab province. Participants of the workshop also expressed their views on the problems of labour community and gave suggestions for their concrete solution.
