Pakistan's imports of telecom products soared to $1.070 billion during July-Mar 2014-15, higher by 15 percent, official figures said. Telecom imports showed an increase of $137.243 million in July-March 2014-15 from $933.543 million in July-March 2013-14, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics said. In a break-up, import of cellular phones went up by $62.328 million or 13.06 percent to $539.583 million in July-March 2014-15 from $477.255 million in July-March 2013-14, the figures indicated.
Import of other telecom apparatus grew by $74.915 million or 16.42 percent to $531.203 million in July-March 2014-15 up from $456.288 million in July-March 2013-14, the statistics showed. In March 2015, telecom imports surged by $8.475 million or 8.46 percent to $108.619 million from $100.144 million in March 2014, according to the PBS. Mobile phones import shot up by $29.107 million or 65 percent to $73.929 million in March 2015 up from $44.822 million in March 2014, the statistics suggested. Import of other telecom apparatus however slumped by $20.632 million or 37.29 percent to 34.690 million in March 2015 from $55.322 million in March 2014, the figures said.
