Election petition: Tribunal restrained from pronouncing verdict

Sindh High Court on Thursday restrained Hyderabad election tribunal from pronouncing its verdict on an election petition against the victory of Syed Qaim Ali Shah on PS-29 Khairpur district till May 4. A division bench, headed by Justice Munib Akhtar, gave this restraining order while hearing a petition filed by Syed Ghous Ali Shah, who moved the court assailing Election Commission of Pakistan's order, transferring his election petition to Hyderabad election tribunal.
The bench issued notice to Chief Election Commissioner and counsel for Sindh chief minister to file their respective responses to the petition by May 4. The bench ruled that if at all, the election tribunal is said to announce its judgment on the matter which is subject of the petition, such announcement shall not be made till 2 pm on May 4.
