Rights of the people of Balochistan particularly Gwadar should be accepted on Gwadar-Kashgar Economic Corridor and the impression of according priority to only Punjab regarding the corridor project should be dispelled by the Prime Minister. This was stated by Secretary General Jamaat-i-Islami Liaqat Baloch while talking to media along with Balochistan chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch at JI Provincial Secretariat, here on Sunday.
Baloch said he had come to Balochistan on a three days visit. He said overall law and order situation in the province had improved.
He urged the government to ensure provision of employment to the people of the province and take decisions on merit.
He said that he had held talks with Chief Minister Dr Malik Baloch and other poetical parties on matters relating to Balochistan with particular reference to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor route, problems of Gwadar etc. He called for steps to resolve problems of Balochistan.
He said that National Party delegation too expressed reservations over Pak-China Economic Corridor route.
He said provincial autonomy had been granted in 18th amendment and thus all the provinces needed to be taken on board about Pak China Economic Corridor.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Malik Baloch said that talks had held with JI central leadership over political and economic situation. Jamaat should point out weaknesses of the government and they would try to address them.
To a question he said he was not aware of any change in Gwadar-Kashgar route. "Yes, I am aware of building Gwadar Airport and acquisition of land for special Zone and building express zone there," he added.
Removing the reservations of people of Gwadar was joint responsibility of provincial and federal governments, he added.
