The First Secretary of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad was summoned to the Foreign Office on Sunday to lodge protest over the killing of a Pakistani unarmed inadvertent crosser, Amanat Ali son of Rasheed Ahmed, who was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force personnel across Shakargarh Sector at the Working Boundary.
In its protest note, the Government of Pakistan strongly condemned the action of the BSF troops, which is a violation of the Border Ground Rules. The fact that BSF troops fired at an unarmed civilian reflected their intent to kill. Pakistan called upon India to respect the lives of civilians and refrain from such provocations.
The government of Pakistan offers its condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family of the victim.
