Dar calls on Azerbaijan President

Minister for Finance Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar here on Sunday called on the president of Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interests. The two leaders expressed satisfaction on the bilateral relations that so happily exist between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Recalling the recent visit of President of Pakistan to Azerbaijan, the two leaders agreed that signing of Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership has set a new direction for promoting multi-dimensional bilateral co-operation between our two brotherly countries including in political, economic, trade and commerce, defence, science and technology, education, art and culture spheres. In order to achieve tangible results both leaders emphasised on the implementation and follow up on the agreed areas of co-operation. The Finance Minister apprised President Ilham about the macro-economic measures undertaken by Pakistan, explained the development strategy and "peaceful neighbourhood" policy of the Government of Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
Appreciating mutual support on the political causes of the two countries, the two leaders agreed to work together to seek the resolution of Nogorno Karabakh conflict and Jammu & Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Resolutions and norms of justice. The meeting helped strengthening bilateral relations, furthering closeness at the leadership level and in speeding up the process of under consideration areas and projects of bilateral co-operation. Pakistan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Khalid Usman Qaiser and Azerbaijan Ambassador to Pakistan Dashgin Shikarov were also present in the meeting.
