Message from Founder and Director General, Rescue 1122 & Emergency Services Academy, Pakistan

05 May, 2015

Rescue 1122 has become the leading Emergency Humanitarian Service of Pakistan which has responded to over 2.8 million accidents, emergencies and disasters and rescued over 3.2 million helpless victims without discrimination through its Emergency Ambulance, Rescue, Fire Services and Community Emergency Response Teams, while maintaining an average response time of seven minutes and uniform standard in all Districts.
After providing the basic right to timely emergency care without discrimination, Rescue 1122 is now working with the communities for emergency prevention and disaster risk reduction. This is a day, when we need to pay tribute to those Fire Rescuers, who lost their lives or were injured while responding to over 64,000 fire incidents. As a result of timely response and professional firefighting on modern lines, Rescue 1122 was able to save losses worth over Rs 180 billion. In view of the increasing number of fire emergencies, there is a dire need to evolve an effective fire prevention strategy involving the establishment of modern Emergency Services in all provinces, drafting of National Fire Safety Codes, enactment of an effective Fire Prevention and Community Safety legislation, capacity building of professionals regarding fire safety codes, safety laws and effective enforcement of fire safety codes to establish safer communities in Pakistan.
