The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has delayed the elections in Faisalabad's NA-103 constituency after an independent candidate committed suicide.
According to local media reports, Mirza Mohammad Ahmed Mughal committed suicide after being disheartened with the lack of support of his family. In a video, which he had recorded a day before his death, Mughal said that his sons and daughter-in-laws were not supporting him and instead were supporting other candidates.
In the video, the independent candidate threatened his family of suicide. Following his death, the ECP postponed on Saturday the elections from that constituency.
The general elections are slated for July 25.
