Ministry receives over Rs 70 billion through record Hajj applications

The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has received over Rs 70 billion through record over 270,000 Hajj applications for Government Hajj Scheme. According to an official, the names of 71,000 successful applicants would be announced on Thursday (May 14) through computerised balloting. The successful applicants would be intimated through letters, and their names would be put on the website of the ministry.
A total of 143,368 would perform Hajj this year. The pilgrims would be provided transport and other facilities in Saudi Arabia. Hajj expenditures from Quetta, Karachi and Sukkur were Rs 255,971 excluding sacrifice and expenditures were Rs 270,181 including sacrifice charges. Whereas the Hajj expenditure from Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Peshawar, Multan, Rahiryar Khan were Rs 264,971 excluding sacrifice. While a Haji has to pay Rs 279,181 with sacrifice charges.
