Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday directed that all possible efforts be made to immediately nab the culprits of Karachi bus attack. The Prime Minister was chairing a high-level meeting here at the Governor's House, which was attended, among others, by Sindh Governor and Chief Minister, Chief of the Army Staff, Director General Rangers Sindh, Corps Commander Karachi, Secretary Interior and senior officials.
Dr Farooq Sattar and Rasheed Godail of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement were also present. The DG Rangers and Inspector General of Police Sindh briefed the Prime Minister about the law and order situation in the city in the backdrop of this incident. The Chief Secretary Sindh also briefed the meeting.
The Prime Minister said there are no words to express grief over this tragic incident. "Karachi is a commercial hub of Pakistan and every incident here does have importance." He said the enemies do not like Pakistan to achieve economic progress and their agenda is not to let anything happen which takes the country forward. There is a need to keep an eye on such elements, he added. The Prime Minister said the law enforcement agencies should work in complete co-ordination to ensure peace in Karachi. All institutions responsible for countering terrorism should gear up to meet the challenges, he added. Pakistan People's Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari also joined the meeting, which was continuing till the filing of this report.
