-KP Chief Minister, Pervez Khatak said besides taking measures to curb corruption, the provincial government has recovered properties worth more than Rs 1 billion from land mafia and another amount of Rs 500 million from others. In a statement issued here said that as many as 472 persons have been arrested under charges of corruption from different departments in the province so far.
The CM attributed the alleged mismanagement in govt departments to the corrupt politicians and bureaucracy in the past, reiterating his govt pledge to halt such practices. He has committed to weed out corruption from govt departments and would leave no stone unturned to achieve the task.
In this respect, he said that a number of new laws has been introduced, which would help in curbing corrupt practices. Besides, a new law in the name of Whistle Blowers Act has been approved by the provincial cabinet and will soon be tabled in KP Legislature soon. The CM said that the Ehtesab Commission has also started working in the province which hopefully will also help in eradication of corruption both at political and administrative level.
Referring to his govt initiatives for youth of the province, Pervez Khatak said that an amount of Rs 120 million has been allocated for Youth Challenge Fund Project. Under the program, financial and technical facilitation are being provided to the skilled youth of the province who are interested in starting their own business in shape of demand driven projects, he added.
The initiative is being implemented with the co-operation of SMEDA and will cover youth between the ages of 18-30. He said Rs 2 million will be provided as initial grant to top 50 businesses proposals prepared by young entrepreneurs adding that currently the proposals are being verified by technical board he added.
