Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said that Rs 250 billion will be allocated in the budget for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor in order to ensure its fast track implementation. The minister said this while speaking at a PML-N Workers Convention after inaugurating a road in Qasim Pura area of Shakargarh on Monday.
Ahsan said the commitment by China for an investment of $46 billion in Pakistan was a big success of the government. He said the CPEC was a plan for the development and prosperity of the two countries. He further said that the image of Pakistan across the world had improved under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif but there were certain elements who did not want to see development in the country. He categorically assured that the areas in Khyber Pakhtukhwa and Balochistan would certainly get development projects and the nefarious designs of the enemies would be foiled.
Ahsan said that the Chinese investment was in line with the existing energy policy of the government. He emphasised the need for avoiding past mistakes which did not bring necessary investment in our country. He said the Indian government was highly perturbed over economic co-operation between Pakistan and China and it was reflected in the criticism being carried out by the Indian media.
He said the government was fighting the menace of terrorism along with the armed forces. Speaking on the occasion, PML-N central leader Asghar Ali Chaudhry said the purpose of incidents of terrorism was to divide the nation but said the nation was fully united against terrorists.
